Ayushman Bharat is a health scheme launched by govt of India. The scheme is also known as PMJAY/ Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. The scheme is specially launched for the EWS/Economically Weaker section to give them health-related benefits. The people who have Ayushman Bharat Health Card will get an amount of RS 5 Lakh for hospital treatments. Nearly 12 crore people are eligible for the ABHA Card.

Eligibility for ABHA Card

The eligibility rules for the ABHA Card are given in two categories, one is for rural people and the other is for urban people. The people with low yearly income across India will be covered under the free healthcare treatment in private and govt hospitals.  

Eligibility For Rural:

  • The people of the SC/ST category tribe
  • Beggers
  • Families not having a member aged 16 years to 59 years 
  • Families having at least one PH/ Handicap member
  • Landless families
  • Tribal Communities
  • Family living in a room house with no proper walls

Eligibility For Urban:

  • Washerman
  • Watchman
  • Worker, Electrician, Repair Worker, Mechanics
  • Sanitation Worker
  • Domestic Helper
  • Plumbers
  • Assistant, Peon

People who are not Eligibility are:

  • Owner of a two-wheeler, four-wheeler, or boat
  • Kisan who owns farming equipment
  • Who has a Kissan Card worth Rs 50000 
  • Who is empowered by govt
  • monthly income above Rs 10000
  • those who have a fridge and landline
  • owns 5 acres or more agricultural land

How to Check Eligibility for an ABHA Card?

Follow the below steps to check the eligibility for the Ayushman Bharat Health Card.

  1. Go to the PMJAY website.
  2. Search the option “AM I Eligible”
  3. Put the mobile number in the form and Captcha.
  4. Write the received OTP and then give other details related to the family member
  5. Provide income details and submit the form.

The person can call the helpline number of Ayushman Bharat Health Card to confirm the eligibility of their family for an ABHA Card. 

How to Apply For Ayushman Bharat Health Card 

The people can follow the below steps to apply for the Ayushman Bharat Health Card. 

  1. The first step is to go to the PMJAY website.
  2. Provide the Aadhar Card Number, an OTP will be generated.
  3. Put the OTP in the required place.
  4. Provide the detailed info in the Ayushman Bharat Health Card form.
  5. Attach the docs and certificates in the ABHA Card form.
  6. Submit the Ayushman Bharat Health Card form and wait for approval.

Visit the web portal of PMJAY and go to the check status section for the Ayushman Bharat Health Card. You will be asked to enter the Aadhar Number or Phone number to check the status. If your application for Ayushman Bharat Health Card is approved, you will be able to save the ABHA Card.
