IIT JAM Exam: Important Dates
JAM is a reputed examination conducted every year by different universities throughout India. This examination is a gateway for all of those who aspire to be a part of IITs and IISc, Banglore for an MSc or any other post-graduation program. IIT JAM 2020 was conducted by IIT Kanpur this year in the month of February.

Selection Procedure and Pattern of Questions
Like any other examination, IIT JAM has a pattern of questions asked. Here we would tell you about the whole procedure of giving the IIT JAM exam. The examination will be held in two shifts: The first one starting from 09:30 am to 12:30 pm i.e. 3 hours. This shift starts from Biotechnology, Mathematical Statistics, Physics.
While the second shift starts from 2:30 pm to 5: 30 pm also for 3 hours. This shift consists of papers of the Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics.
The detailed selection procedure of the IIT JAM examination is given below:-
- The paper is conducted online and the total paper is of 3 hours only.
- A total of 7 test papers are conducted in the examination.
- Subjects of the test are (Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Geology (GG), Mathematical Statistics (MS), Biological Sciences (BL), Mathematics (MA) and Physics (PH).
- The paper is conducted only in English and a total of 60 questions are asked.
- The examination has a sum total of 100 marks. Although the paper has three sections A B and C negative marking is done only in the first part.
- The B and C sections of the paper do not include any kind of negative or partial markings.

Such an unequal division of marks contains the three sections of the paper in which Section A consists of MCQ’s(10 questions for 1 marks and 20 questions for 2 marks), Section B consists of Multiple selected question(each question for 2 marks), Whereas Section C has Numerical type questions(10 with one marks and 10 with 2 marks).
